The European leg of the HSBC BWF World Tour continues with the 71-year-old Super 300 YONEX Swiss Open 2026.
Germany remain the sole nation to have swept all five categories, achieving the feat at the third edition in 1957.
Chinese Taipei are the only team withseeds in every discipline, including last week’s All England mixed doubles winners Ye Hong Wei/Nicole Gonzales Chan.
Men’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles produced winnersrepresenting different flags at each of the last five editions.
Among them were India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty (2023), the only top seeds who have previously won their event.
Two more of India’s seven Swiss Open champions – Srikanth Kidambi (2015) and H.S. Prannoy (2016) – are also in the draw this year.
Across the five categories, Chai Biao/Hong Wei were the last to win successive times (2013-2014). Jia Yi Fan/Zhang Shu Xian, the only defending champions in this year’s field, stand to emulate their compatriots.
If successful, Jia/Zhang will be the first women’s pair from their country since the legendary Ge Fei/Gu Jun in 1998 to be winners twice in a row.
In the Super Series/World Tour era (starting 2007), women’s singles champions have come from only five countries – China, India, Japan, Spain and Thailand.
Top-seeded Indonesian Putri Kusuma Wardani is well-positioned to break that streak.
Cindana Hartono Kusuma was the last from Indonesia to win the category back in 1999.
Standout Stat: Men’s singles is the department that has gone the longest without a successful title defence. It has been 60 years since Dane Tage Nielsen won consecutive editions (1964-1965).
The record is set to continue with last year’s winner Weng Hong Yang not in the draw this year.
