HYLO Open: New Heights Touched

Margot Lambert and Camille Pognante etched their names in history by becoming the first women’s pair from France to win an HSBC BWF World Tour title at HYLO Open 2025 on Sunday.

Their commanding 21-16 21-10 victory over second seeds Hsu Yin-Hui/Lin Jhih Yun crowned a memorable campaign for the fast-improving world No.33s.

“We played with good energy and good speed,” said the 19-year-old Pognante. “We are happy to bring home this medal.”

For Lambert, the triumph carried an extra layer of nostalgia. The same hall had witnessed her European Championship glory last year with Anne Tran and returning to lift another title felt like destiny fulfilled.

“Feels good to create history for French women’s doubles,” she reflected. “It’s always nice to come back here, I have great memories. The toughest part was to stay in mentally and keep the focus even when we were leading by a lot.”

Their victory adds to a growing wave of French excellence, joining recent standout performances from Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue, Alex Lanier, Christo Popov and Arnaud Merkle.

Meanwhile, Mia Blichfeldt continued her special love affair with Germany, capturing her first Super 500 title after defeating top seed Putri Kusuma Wardani 21-11 7-21 21-12. The Danish star successfully defended her title, marking her third consecutive triumph in the country, having also won German Open last year.

“I play pretty good when I’m in Germany,” Blichfeldt said with a laugh. “It’s been a long hard week but I came to take the title and now I stand with the gold medal. Beating the World Championships bronze medallist is huge, it’s another step forward in my journey.”
