Christo Popov made his first final of the season beating No.6 Li Shi Feng in straight games to earn a title shot at YONEX Swiss Open 2025 against Weng Hong Yang.
Popov hadn’t taken a game off Li in two previous meetings but was dominant for the most part against the fourth seed. Li did well to climb back from 13-4 in the first game to level at 17, but once Popov edged ahead 21-19, he was in control for the remainder of the match.
In the final, Popov faces Weng, who outplayed Lin Chun-Yi in straight games, 23-21 21-16.
In women’s singles, Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt bounced back from three straight first round losses on the HSBC BWF World Tour to make the final. The Dane survived a stiff test from Michelle Li to prevail 21-14 12-21 21-17. Awaiting her in the final will be No.5 seed Chen Yu Fei, who proved too strong for Putri Kusuma Wardani, 21-15 21-14.
