Thailand’s 18-year-old former world junior champion Pitchamon Opatniputh is on course to face senior Ratchanok Intanon for the first time at PRINCESS SIRIVANNAVARI Thailand Masters 2025.
Opatniputh was promoted to the main draw on Monday and will open her campaign against fellow teenager Shriyanshi Valishetty, the 17-year-old from India.
Clearing the initial round at her first HSBC BWF World Tour tournament of the season will set up a duel with 2016 winner Intanon, who arrives from Jakarta with the Indonesia Masters title – her first in 10 months.
This marks Opatniputh’s second Thailand Masters; she lost to countrywoman Supanida Katethong in the Round of 16 last year.
Meanwhile, top seeds in two categories have pulled out – Kunlavut Vitidsarn (men’s singles) and Guo Xin Wa/Chen Fang Hui (mixed doubles).
