Taipei Open: Thais Frustrate Local Favourites

Pakkapon Teeraratsakul/Phataimas Muenwong became winners of YONEX Taipei Open 2024 on Sunday, beating home pair Yang Po Hsuan/Hu Ling Fang in straight games.

The Thais, underdogs in the match against their second-seeded opponents, took no more than 40 minutes to complete the job 21-17 21-19 and emerge the first mixed doubles winners from their country in tournament history.

This also marks the second title of the season for the world-ranked 28th Teeraratsakul/Muenwong, who won another Super 300 event – the US Open in June.

Yang later bounced back in the men’s doubles final with Lee Jhe-Huei, winning 21-7 25-23 against compatriots Chiang Chien-Wei/Wu Hsuan-Yi.
